10 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FRIDAY, JULY 25

First of all if you were able to volunteer at the Venetian Hills Elementary project last month, thank you!  If you had to cancel your participation, we could use your help this Friday. Yes, we still have a few tasks to finish and have been dodging the rain for weeks to get something scheduled. Community Take Back "Stop All Crime" Rally this Saturday

Last week the rain stopped our Rally but we are back, full of energy and ready to walk this Saturday.  With your support we plan to walk for the next two weekends through a portion of Oakland City announcing that we plan to give crime, drugs and violence an eviction date. So put on your walking shoes, hand out some flyers, get some fresh air and exercise and get acquainted with neighbors as we rally/walk against all crime in Oakland City.  The Atlanta Police have been invited to accompany us.  Thanks APD!!

Councilwoman Cleta Winslow will be out in the community as well, hosting a community cleanup on Sparks Avenue.  The rally will walk down Sparks Avenue and several other streets in that area.

How to Do Business with the City of Atlanta

The City of Atlanta is encouraging City Councilmember’s to institute a new policy for donations and contributions that we make to neighborhood organizations, schools and churches. In order to receive future donations and/or contributions, I am encouraging you to immediately register as a vendor with the City of Atlanta. This will ensure that you will receive funds in a timely manner once you have submitted an invoice to my office. Please follow the steps below:

1.       Go online to the City of Atlanta’s Website: www.atlantaga.gov

2.       Click on the “Doing Business” tab at the top of the screen

3.       Select “Suppliers” from the drop down menu

4.       Complete both steps under “Getting Started”

1.       Complete each field with the correct information

2.       Select “Click here to open IRS form W9” and complete this form

1.       With the information received, please Login and make sure all contact and address information is correct

 Dear Citizens,

 As you may have heard, the City of Atlanta has launched the
  operational testing phase of its 311 service and we need
  citizens to give it a try and report back to me regarding
  how well you think the customer service rep handled the call
  and if your question was answered to your
  satisfaction.

  If you would note in your email to me the time and date of
  your call, your question, whether the answer you received
  was thorough and accurate, and about how long you were on
  the line, I would be most grateful. My email address is

  311 is a way to give citizens answers about any city service
  quickly and efficiently. You may ask a question about your
  water bill, flooding, parking, court fines, parks, traffic,
  code enforcement, street lights, garbage pick up, business
  licenses, permits--basically anything--or make a service
  request. You may be transferred to the city agency best able
  to help you.

  Due to technical issues that the city expects to have
  resolved in a couple of months, it is not possible to
  merely dial “311” just yet, however, if you need a
  question answered, you may dial
  404-546-0311 or you can program it into your cell phone as
  “311.”

  The website is also operational, and I really would
  appreciate as many citizens as possible giving it a
  try.  Any complaints about it, from navigation to
  usefulness of content, etc. are welcome!
