2024 Proposed Solid Waste Rates

The Department of Public Works Solid Waste Services (SWS) operates as an enterprise fund of the City and currently services approximately 100,000 residential solid waste and recycling accounts and 350 multifamily and City accounts. Revenue comes from solid waste fees in accordance with Chapter 130 of the City of Atlanta Code of Ordinances.

The City Utilities Committee of the Atlanta City Council held a public hearing July 9, 2024, on proposed legislation, 24-O-1214, to amend the code to adjust the taxes, assessments, service fees, and charges for solid waste services. The proposed Fiscal Year 2025 rate adjustment of 3.5% and 2% in subsequent years, 2026 and 2027.

This legislation will go before the full body of Atlanta City Council for adoption on Monday, August 5, 2024.

Attached is one-page overview of the 2024 Proposed Solid Waste Rates. You can also view the document here. Please share this information with your NPU body.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Valarie Miles at the Department of Public Works at Vmiles@atlantaga.gov or 404-330-6240.
