City Permitting Made Easier

From the Department of City Planning:

The Department of City Planning has an IMPROVED Permitting Process! In early 2020, the department revised permitting in the City of Atlanta by establishing an online portal and collaborating with customers and external partners to simplify the process.

The improved process will reduce the overall timeline, provide dedicated support to guide customers through the process, and improve accountability.

1. All customers will use the redesigned and improved Accela portal for direct submissions. Multi-family development customers will no longer submit materials using the SagesGov portal.

2. Simplified file naming structures and plan upload requirements. Applicants will be able to upload the file packages matching the drawing package, i.e. Architectural Plan, Civil Plan, Survey, etc.

3. A digital plan review process for all agencies eliminating printing costs and time spent on driving to submit plans for review.

Other scheduled improvements such as introduction of a Development Services Team, simplified and clear communications, and automated issuance of trade permits will be implemented in the coming weeks.

Starting March 1st, the City's improved process will be available for all customers!

STAY TUNED FOR MORE!

Critter Camp w/ WAWA!

From the West  End Watershed Alliance:

The West Atlanta Watershed Alliance (WAWA) is pleased to partner with The Amphibian Foundation again to offer this unique camp experience for youth ages 6-10. Critter Camp is a hands-on science camp which exposes youth to the exciting world of amphibians and reptiles. Over one hundred live animals from around the world will be available for this camp. This includes (most of) the major amphibian groups: frogs, toads, salamanders and newts as well as the reptile groups: turtles, tortoises, lizards and snakes. Campers will learn 'fun facts' about each group: their life cycles, where and how they live, how they reproduce, and their defense strategies. Campers will learn things like what makes a frog a toad, and what makes a turtle a tortoise. Campers will also learn how to identify frog species by their call and tadpole. We'll also utilize our entire 26-acre nature preserve for guided exploration, skills practice, and play.

Critter Camp would typically cost $275, but through support from ARC, PARC, USFS, and of course the Amphibian Foundation, we are able to offer a reduced camp tuition of $150 for the entire week! In addition to this reduced cost, we are offering scholarships to further reduce the financial burden for local youth to participate.

You can access the scholarship application form here: https://tinyurl.com/WAWACritterCamp

You can register for Critter Camp here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/o-academy-critter-camp-2023-tickets-526692179487

Camp Details At A Glance:

  • Ages 6-10

  • Limited to 12 campers

  • 9 am - 4 pm. (Before and After-care available for an additional fee)

  • Parents/Guardians must provide a lunch.

  • Cost: $150/week

  • Scholarships available (*recipients must commit to the full week of camp)

For any questions, you can contact Shaundon Moore (Environmental Education Coordinator) via email Shaundon@wawa-online.org or by phone 404-752-5385. For more information regarding critter camp, you can visit: https://www.critter-camp.org/index.php
