Call for Volunteers: Holiday Decorating at The Wren's Nest! 🎄

Call for Holiday Decorating Volunteers!

Do you love all things holly and jolly and put up your Christmas tree as soon as Halloween is over? Are you a crafty, handy person? Are looking for a fun way to give back? We've got just the volunteer project for you!

The Wren's Nest is preparing to deck our halls for our holiday program that will take place from November 25-December 16.

We are recruiting volunteers to help us unpack and prepare holiday greenery and supplies on November 18 and then help take down and store decorations on January 6.

If you love assembling Christmas trees, untangling lights, sorting ornaments, and aren't afraid of glitter, we want to hear from you!

Upcoming Department of Parks & Rec Community Meeting - Tuesday, Oct 3

From DPR:

The City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation invites you to join us for an upcoming Community Meeting to learn more about what is happening at DPR! Parks are growing, recreation programs are expanding, and we want you to know!

We are excited to demonstrate how we are working for you, showcase our new initiatives, and to learn more about how we can best serve our neighbors through exceptional parks & recreation services.

During the planning process for Activate ATL, our 10-Year Master Plan that was approved in December 2021, we heard from community, partners, and staff about the need to prioritize and fund equitable improvements; further elevating the need for additional resources to help us achieve our goals to Invest, Connect, and Grow Atlanta's Parks and Recreation System.

Thanks to each of you and our many partners, friends groups, conservancies, Mayor Andre Dickens, and City Council, we have delivered on our efforts to bring more resources to DPR with a recent Millage Funding increase which will provide DPR with an estimated $16 million a year to continuously improve our services and offerings.

We hope you will attend the upcoming Community Meeting to learn more about DPR's plan to allocate these additional funds in alignment with community and staff input, hear about progress made towards Activate ATL and its' companion DPR 5-Year Strategic Plan, and share your feedback about how we can best ensure that all Atlantans, in all neighborhoods, have safe access to high quality parks and recreation services.
