Stop the Bleed Training 2023

Free Live Online Training launching January 3- January 5, 2024

Dear STOP THE BLEED® Instructors,

On behalf of Georgia's Trauma System, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering dedication as STOP THE BLEED® Instructors. We wouldn't have achieved the success of this program without you.

We're thrilled to announce the upcoming state-wide STOP THE BLEED® Training Blitz and would be honored if you join us in continuing to champion this endeavor. Once again, we'll be hosting FREE virtual training sessions for Georgia schools (pre-K through 12th grade) and higher education partners. This year, we're also opening the sessions to students and the public.

Here are a few ways you can help with the upcoming Blitz:

1. Please share the attached STOP THE BLEED® Winter Blitz announcement widely.

2. Assist us in updating our Georgia STOP THE BLEED® Instructor List.

Winter Webinar Specifics:

- Dates: Wednesday, January 3rd through Friday, January 5th

- Course Length: 1 hour (Multiple opportunities each day)

- Available Sessions: 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 4:00 pm each day

For more information, please refer to the attached announcement or visit our website: www.stopthebleedgeorgia.org.

We're receiving requests from school systems for in-person courses and skills training sessions for the upcoming months. We recommend schools to first reach out to their in-system instructors (School Nurses, SROs, Athletic Trainers, and Health Science/Public Safety Faculty). In cases where no in-system instructors are available or additional instructors are needed, we direct schools and school systems to our Georgia STOP THE BLEED® Instructor List.

To learn more, kindly visit:

- STOP THE BLEED® Georgia

- STOP THE BLEED® Georgia Regional Champions

- STOP THE BLEED® Georgia Instructors

- Georgia STOP THE BLEED® Instructor Registration

We kindly request you to review your information in our Georgia STOP THE BLEED® Instructors database and make any necessary updates or corrections using the Instructor Registration Link provided at Georgia STOP THE BLEED® Instructor Registration.

Some instructors have expressed their willingness to be listed for multiple counties, so please ensure you review your listing for all applicable counties.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be making updates and recruiting new instructors. If you know of any qualified STOP THE BLEED® instructors who should be added to the list, please encourage them to complete the registration.

We will verify that they have completed the onboarding process and obtained access to the instructor portal at www.stopthebleed.org, enabling their addition to the list. Interested instructors should register no later than midnight on December 31st.

As a token of our appreciation, we'll hold a drawing for a Mini STOP THE BLEED® Instructor Set including 1- Phokus Cube, 1- Bleeding Control Trainer, and 2- C-A-T Training Tourniquets. Additionally, we'll draw ten more instructor gifts, one for each region. All instructors (both new and old) registered on the Georgia List on or before Midnight on December 31st will be entered into the drawing.

Once again, we appreciate your continual commitment and service as STOP THE BLEED® Instructors. As you plan your activities for the new year, we hope you will consider incorporating a STOP THE BLEED® training event. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.

Thank you for your unwavering support of this life-saving program.

Georgia's Trauma System

Education Trust Looking For Third Cohort of Justice Fellows

From the Education Trust (https://edtrust.org/)
In 2020, EdTrust launched the Justice Fellows Policy Program, which centers on the lived experiences of formerly incarcerated individuals who have leveraged higher education against the residual consequences of incarceration, by elevating their voices in policy debates about improving higher education for all justice-impacted people in the United States.

I'm excited to announce that we are accepting applications for our third cohort of Justice Policy Fellows!

We are looking for previously incarcerated individuals who have less than five years of professional, entrepreneurial, or community engagement experience, who have a strong desire to gain and develop higher education policy skills, and a passion for providing justice-impacted individuals with access to an equitable education.

If this describes you or someone you know, be sure to apply or share with your networks!

Construction update - Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail closure

Forwarded from Councilmember Dozier:
Work is underway to construct the access plaza to the Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail across RDA in Westview.

As part of the construction, we need to install a storm sewer line that will cross the Westside Trail to connect to an existing structure. We don't see a practical way to keep the trail open during this activity, so we have devised a plan to close the trail from the KIPP Academy access point to the Cascade Road Kroger Center access ramp for a duration of two (2) weeks to complete the installation. We would like to close this section of trail from December 11 to December 22.

Fortunately, we have a ready-made detour from Lucile Avenue to Muse Street in the West End Trail as it runs along Muse parallel with the Westside Trail up to Cascade Road. There are multiple crosswalk options for walkers or bicyclists to cross over Cascade to the ramp that leads back down to the Westside Trail from the Kroger Center (see below).
