Fulton County Animal Services Restored

Fulton County Animal Services have been restored immediately for the City of Atlanta.

At its meeting today, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Atlanta, resuming animal control services within the city limits effective immediately.

Residents in need of animal control services can call once again 404-613-0358 to request services.

"I am glad that we have been able to resolve this matter with the City of Atlanta expeditiously and respectfully," said Chairman Robb Pitts. "We are especially grateful for staff from both Fulton County and the City of Atlanta who continued to work to protect the safety of animals and people during this pause in services."

On Tuesday, April 16, the Fulton County received an intergovernmental agreement executed by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. The item was immediately added to today's Board of Commissioners' agenda and authorizes payment for services.

During the the 10-day pause in service, the Fulton County Animal Services Facility on Fulton Industrial Boulevard continued to accept animals from City of Atlanta residents. In that period, the facility accepted approximately 98 dogs.

Overall, calls for services from the City of Atlanta represent approximately 55% of animal control services in Fulton County.

Squeaky Wheels Wanted!

Invitation to the Groundbreaking of a Resiliency Hub at VICARS

Greetings All,

Please join me in celebrating our community meeting a goal of providing a place for residents to seek help in the case of a catastrophic event in our city.

Some of you may remember that in 2015-16 NPU-S talked about the need for a Resiliency Hub or an emergency plan for our communities. Well we have that opportunity now. Thanks to Chris Brown for enthusiastically sharing with me why we needed such a plan and to Eric Hill for showing me that a plan was possible. And, I think COVID showed us all that an emergency plan is a necessity in today's world.

Please share this good news and attached flyer with your neighbors and community organizations. I hope to see you on April 30th at 11am at VICARS, 838 Cascade Avenue as we support and celebrate our community's progress.

Robbie Hunter
NPU-S Chair (2014-2017)

Citizens Police Academy

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our impactful Zone 4 town hall meeting this past Wednesday night. Your presence and valuable feedback truly make a difference.

Now, I'm thrilled to announce that applications are open for Class #46 of the Atlanta Police Citizen's Police Academy. This immersive program offers a unique opportunity for City of Atlanta residents and those who work within the city, aged 21 and above, to gain an insider's perspective on law enforcement.

From May 14 to July 2, 2024, every Tuesday evening, participants will delve into the inner workings of the Atlanta Police Department. From visiting our 911 center to exploring various departmental units, you'll gain firsthand knowledge of police operations.

Our mission is clear: to educate Atlanta citizens about the practices and operations of their police department. By fostering a deeper understanding, we aim to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the community we serve.

Throughout the Academy's 24 hours of professional instruction, delivered in both classroom and offsite settings, participants will have the opportunity to engage with officers and provide invaluable feedback. Your insights are essential in shaping improved police-community relations.

Commitment-wise, we ask for just one evening per week (Tuesdays) over the course of 8 weeks, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. And here's the best part—it's completely free of charge.

Please, if you cannot attend, share this opportunity with your different networks. My goal is to have Zone 4 well represented in this transformative experience.

Don't miss this chance to be part of a transformative experience. Apply now and embark on a journey toward a safer, more connected Atlanta
