Millage Rate Meeting Wednesday, Aug 17

Fulton County Proposes to Maintain Current Millage Rate

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners held two of its three public hearings for its 2022 millage rate.  Fulton County's proposed millage rate for 2022 is 9.33 mills, the same as the 2021 millage rate.

Because Fulton County has had a strong track record of lowering its millage rate over many years to offer taxpayer relief, the 2022 proposed rate is a full mill lower than Fulton County's General Fund millage rate 5 year ago (10.38 mills).

The proposed rate is higher than the full rollback rate for 2022 and will be advertised as a tax increase as required by law. Fulton County will hold three public hearings.

  • Like all organizations, Fulton County's operational costs are increasing. To address "The Great Resignation" and associated employee retention issues, personnel costs have increased significantly.  In addition, international supply chain issues have driven up costs for basic supplies, such as fuel and paper.
  • Fulton County has also faced increased costs due to rising crime rates, which have resulted in a higher population within the Fulton County Jail and increased cases within the justice system.

After three public hearings, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners will set the millage rate at their August 17 meeting. The last public hearings will be held tomorrow. Residents may attend in person at the Fulton County Government Center, 141 Pryor Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303, or via Zoom using the links provided.

West Nile Positive Mosquito Pools - 2022 Season

From Fulton County:

We were notified yesterday of 3 more positive mosquito pools for West Nile Virus at these locations: Benson Senior Center and Perkerson Park. Attached are the maps of 1/4 mile radius of the area where Bug Busters will be spraying at night. The spraying will occur once a week for approximately 4 weeks and is dependent on the weather. My team will be visiting these neighborhoods to provide awareness to the communities of the positive test results in that area and education on preventing mosquito bites and breeding areas around their homes. At this time, we are in the process of having signage printed up to place in the parks where positive mosquito pools are found; however, they will not be ready in time to post at these locations now.

Please help share this information through your networks. If anyone has any specific questions about the spraying operation, such as when they will be in each location, please reach out to Court Parker, Rick Anglian or Michael Pothier with Bug Busters at: (770) 517-0200. Or you can email them at: court@bugbustersusa.com or ranglian@bugbustersusa.com or mpothier@bugbustersusa.com.
