Solid Waste Service Delays

 From the Department of Public Works:

Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases which has led to a decrease in staffing, the Department of Public Works Office of Solid Waste Services is experiencing collection delays across the city.

Crews are out and will continue to work into the evening. Residents impacted by the service delays should leave carts and bagged items curbside and visit www.atlanta311.com or call 311 or (404) 546-0311 to report any missed collections.

Yard trimming drop-off is available at the following locations:

  • V-21-294: (1024 Donnelly) Applicant seeks a special exception from the zoning regulation to 1) reduce the required number of off-street parking spaces from 42 to 38 parking spaces. Additionally, the applicant seeks a variance from the zoning regulation to 2) reduce the transitional buffer from 20 feet to 7 feet for the construction of a multi-family development.
As always,  representatives from the police, code enforcement, public works, and other City departments will call in to give reports, and we'll discuss NPU and community programs for our constituents. Come on out!

Dads, Daughters & Dolls Plus Sons Drive

From Fulton County:
As part of the effort to reach out to families in need this holiday season, Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr., in partnership with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, is inviting residents to support the annual Dads, Daughters and Dolls, Plus Sons toy drive and giveaway. This is an effort to collect new dolls and other toys for the sons and daughters of men incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail.

Community members are invited to volunteer to support two drive-thru toy giveaways on December 13 and December 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The giveaway events will take place at the South Fulton Service Center and Louise Watley Library. Atlanta Land Trust "State of the Organization" Event

From the Atlanta Land Trust:

On December 14 the Atlanta Land Trust will host its second annual State of the Organization event. This virtual event provides us an opportunity to share our accomplishments over the past year and discuss the work ahead in 2022. The presentation will begin at 12 and will last about 30 minutes, followed by Q&A.

The Love Our Places program will provide an opportunity for high-impact areas to have creative bike parking throughout Atlanta. Creative bike parking structures will include amenities such as bike racks, interpretive art, and bike repair stations and will be awarded through a competitive application process.

Campbellton Road Overlay

The City of Atlanta is soliciting comments and review for the proposed Campbellton Road Overlay. These regulations are an overlay and when adopted will apply to any parcel in the area, both those with conditions and those without. Specifically, the language reads:

The existing zoning map and underlying zoning regulations governing all properties within the Campbellton Road Overlay District shall remain in full force and effect. The regulations contained within this chapter shall be overlaid upon, and shall be imposed in addition to, these existing zoning regulations. 

Whenever the following overlay regulations vary from the existing underlying zoning regulations, the regulations of this Chapter 43 shall apply.

Please review and make any comments/changes/recommendations by December 17 to Keyetta Holmes, Director of Zoning and Development, at kmholmes@AtlantaGa.Gov.

No Solid Waste Pickup on Thanksgiving - pickup delayed one day for Thursday, Friday pickups

Just a reminder - solid waste will not be picked up on Thanksgiving. All Thursday pickups will be postponed to Friday, and all Friday pickups will by postponed to Saturday.

$100 Vaccination Incentive - Fulton County


From Fulton County:

Beginning Tuesday, November 16, 2021 through Saturday December 4, 2021, Fulton County residents will be eligible to receive $100 gift cards after receiving their COVID-19 vaccine at select sites. The incentive is available only to Fulton County residents, ages 5 and up, seeking their first or second doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

The incentives will be funded by Fulton County using American Rescue Plan Act funding, and offered to Fulton County residents at three vaccination sites operated through the Fulton County Board of Health and the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency.

4700 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta GA 30305

Magistrate Court R.E.A.C.H. Clinic provides help with Consumer Cases


Who: Fulton County Chief Magistrate Judge Cassandra Kirk and the Magistrate Court of Fulton County created the Rapid Education Assistance Case Help (R.E.A.C.H.) self-help, legal clinic to assist court users in certain case types.

What: The R.E.A.C.H. Clinic provides free, limited legal navigation to people with cases in the Magistrate Court of Fulton County. Our clinic gives our community an opportunity to speak with licensed attorneys, law students, and other staff. Individuals with questions about small claims, garnishments, and private warrant applications may use the clinic for help navigating their case, completing forms, and understanding court procedure. R.E.A.C.H. Clinic staff cannot provide legal advice and Clinic services do not replace the advice of an attorney.

Early Voting Starts Nov 17!

From Fulton County:

EARLY VOTING STARTS NOVEMBER 17 FOR NOVEMBER 30 RUNOFF
On Monday, November 8, the Fulton County Board of Registration & Elections certified the results from the November 2 Municipal Elections.

Voters in the cities of Atlanta, Fairburn, Milton, Roswell and South Fulton will participate in a runoff election on November 30.

VOTER REGISTRATION:
The voter registration deadline for the November 30 runoff election was October 4.

EARLY VOTING:
Early voting for the runoff Election will begin on Wednesday, November 17 and continue through Wednesday, November 24 at 16 Fulton County locations. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, including Saturday & Sunday.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS:
The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the November 30 election will be Friday, November 19. Voters who requested an absentee ballot for the November 2 election must submit a new request for an absentee ballot for the runoff.

For this election, five absentee ballot drop boxes will be available. As a reminder, drop boxes are now located inside early voting locations and available only during hours when early voting sites are open. The last day to use the absentee ballot drop boxes will be Wednesday, November 24.

All absentee ballots must be returned by the time polls close on Election Day. Voters may return absentee ballots at the three Registration & Election offices (Deadline: 8 p.m. for City of Atlanta voters; 7 p.m. for all other voters).

ELECTION DAY:
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 30, voters must report to their assigned polling place. Go to www.mvp.sos.ga.gov to verify your polling place.

Voting hours on Election Day will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the City of Atlanta, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in all other cities.
