Senior Lawn Service Mower's Guide

First off, thank you for your interest in helping with our Senior Lawncare Program.  NPU-S relies on folks just like you to make our community a great place to live!

Our Senior Lawncare Service matches NPU-S seniors to local mowers to provide basic lawncare services.  The goal of the service is to help our seniors age with dignity in place.

About The Program

How does it work?

It's very simple:
  • Once you're registered in the program, your name and phone number are added to the provider directory.
  • Residents will call you to schedule a lawncare appointment.
  • Once you're finished with the appointment, they'll give you a coupon that entitles you to payment from the NPU.

What can I do?
We offer three basic services:
  • Lawn mowing: provide a basic cut, mowing the client's front and back yard and blowing or raking the resulting lawn clippings from the sidewalks.
  • Hedge trimming: trim up to 7 hedges
  • Leaf bagging (fall months): bag leaves in a yard waste bag, up to 7 bags
Will I get paid?
You can! We pay $40 per service, and generally pay within 24 hours.

Can I do extra work for extra pay?
Yes, but the NPU will only pay for the offered services. If the client wants to use you for extra services, that's between you and the client.

What equipment do I need?
  • You must have a smartphone capable of receiving text messages and browsing the internet.
  • It's best if you have your own lawnmower in good repair, and either a rake of a leaf blower; but if you don't, we can match you with clients who are supplying their own lawn equipment. The NPU does not have its own lawn equipment
  • You must also have a way to transport yourself and your equipment to the client.
What Other Ways Can I Help?
You can help coordinate!  Contact us for more details.

Can My Teenager Volunteer?
We can accept teenagers as young as 16, with the permission of parents or guardians, during non-school season.
