Atlanta Police Department 2023 LGBTQ Citizens Police Academy


The Atlanta Citizens Police Academy includes twelve-plus hours of skilled and professional instruction delivered in three-hour sessions. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.   • Department Overview
  • Crime Lab
  • 911
  • Traffic Stops
  • Special Victims Unit
  • Use of Force
  • SWAT
  • Homicide investigations
  • And More!

HOW ARE PARTICIPANTS SELECTED?

The Atlanta Police Department strives to reflect a diverse group of participants. Applicants will be evaluated and notified when they are selected to participate. Potential candidates for the Citizens Police Academy should meet, but are not limited to the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of the Metropolitan Atlanta area
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • No felony convictions
  • No misdemeanor convictions within one year of application
  • After completion of the application, consent forms, and waiver forms a standard background check will be completed.
