Attend the February 29 Kick-off for Plan A – Atlanta’s Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP)

 Dear Atlanta Community,

Plan A influences decisions impacting lives across the city every day. For this reason, public participation is critical to updating the plan.

It takes all of us—our residents, our businesses, our neighborhood groups, our faith-based organizations, our non-profit community—to come together and craft a plan that reflects our shared values. It's timely that we are updating Plan A as we also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Atlanta's Neighborhood Planning Unit (NPU) since comprehensive planning has been at the core of the NPU system from the very beginning. Our NPUs will continue to provide direct opportunities for all residents to actively participate in comprehensive planning during this update and future ones.

Community involvement during this update of Plan A is especially important as the plan will align with the city's new Zoning Ordinance and guide its implementation and decisions over major transit, housing, and ecological investments for years to come. DCP is dedicated to a planning process that reflects Atlanta's diversity and includes everyone in our city's future prosperity. Engagement will center on community meetings in each NPU, online surveys, and pop-ups in neighborhoods and community events across the city.

Your participation as leaders and trusted community members is essential to spreading the word and embracing all Atlantans in the planning process. You are now all Plan A Neighborhood Ambassadors.

The Community Involvement Plan and initial involvement schedule is on our website, AtlantaForAll.com. We will begin the update process with an in-person kick-off event on February 29, 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Greenbriar Mall (2841 Greenbriar Pkwy SW, Atlanta, GA 30331). You are all invited to attend, and we encourage you to invite your family, friends, and neighbors. For more details on the event, please visit our website.

We will also begin including more information about upcoming events in future NPU monthly agendas, and your NPU planners will be able to answer questions on how to participate.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please email PlanA@AtlantaGa.gov.

Thank you for your time, input, and leadership in building this Beloved Community!

Jahnee R. Prince, AICP
Commissioner
Department of City Planning
