• Thursday, May 2 - Atlanta Beltline Advisory Board Annual Report - 6pm, English Ave Yards (777 Wheeler St NW). This meeting will include a panel discussion on Transit Oriented Development. The Atlanta BeltLine Tax Allocation District Advisory Committee (TADAC) & Atlanta BeltLine Affordable Housing Advisory Board (BAHAB), the citizen advisory boards, will share an update on their work and help you learn how to participate.
• Saturday, May 4 - Family Fun Day - 10am-2pm, Oak Hill Family Center (2805 Metropolitan Parkway). Storytelling, performances, health screenings, animals, kickball, and something for all members of the family. Children's Mental Health Awareness Week, May 6-10

Fulton County Celebrates 21st Annual Dance Week

The Fulton County Department of Arts and Culture will host a weeklong celebration of free dance events throughout Fulton County, April 26 – May 4, 2019, showcasing all genres of dance for the dancer in every resident. This year’s theme celebrates Innovation in Dance.

Dance Week 2019: Innovation in Dance offers free dance classes and performances throughout the county and invites every community in Fulton County to join together in celebration of movement through dance. Dance Week 2019 continues to push beyond traditional dance styles to demonstrate how all movement benefits the mind, body and spirit with nine days of dance events which include a variety of styles including; bachata, modern, tap, ballet, hip-hop, voguing, and West African to name a few.

In partnership with Central Atlanta Progress, Dance Week 2019: Innovation in Dance invites all dance enthusiasts and novices to the official Kick-Off Celebration at Broad Street Boardwalk (directly behind Flatiron City, 84 Peachtree St, Atlanta, GA) on Friday, April 26 at Noon. The free event will officially start Dance Week 2019 with high energy, boasting endless dancing to the great beats.

Zoo Atlanta "Safari Camp" Scholarships

Through a partnership with the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority, Zoo Atlanta is pleased to be able to offer a limited number of scholarships to Safari Camp: Summer Session.  Scholarship recipients will receive one week of Safari Camp, daily lunch and snacks, a camp T-shirt and extended care options.

Applications Being Accepted: Fulton County Junior Deputy Programs

No fewer than three "Junior Deputy" programs from Fulton County:

Marshals Department:
The Fulton County Marshals Department is accepting applications for the 2019 Junior Deputy Program which runs from July 8-12, 2019. Among the things this unique program assists with are learning life skills, developing mutual understanding, and enhancing their personal and mental fitness.

Students ages 12 through 16 are eligible to apply if they attend a school in Fulton County, are a resident of Fulton County, or have a family member that is an employee of Fulton County. They must be of good moral character with no arrests or convictions and are required to submit an essay. Applications are due May 25, 2019.

Sheriff's Office:
Registration is open for the 2019 Summer Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Junior Deputies program. The program this summer will be from Monday, June 17 – Friday, June 21. All applicants must be between the ages of 12-16 years old, submit an essay, have a connection to Fulton County, and pay a $50 fee. Deadline to apply is Friday, May 24, 2019.

Court Clerks:

The dates for the 2019 Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Court Junior Deputy Clerk Summer Internship Program are June 17 – July 29, 2019. 

This is an unpaid internship intended to expose high school students to a career in local government. Students can use the experience to get hands-on work, interviewing, career development and other skills to prepare them for college and the workforce while earning community service hours required for high school graduation and scholarships.

The program is open to rising 10th through 12th grade students who are available for the duration of the 4-week program, able to work between 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and able to provide their own transportation to downtown Atlanta. Angel Foods Project

Ladies of Hope Ministries is expanding its "Angel Foods Project" to Atlanta. The AFP, in their words, "delivers free healthy food to formerly incarcerated women and their families in addition to the families of incarcerated women. Since its launch on Thanksgiving 2015, we have bought food to more than 3,000 families in New York City."
