• Mon-Fri. Yard Trimmings Collected. Due to staffing shortages, yard trimmings will be collected every other week until further notice. This week, yard trimmings WILL be collected.

• Wed Mar 1, 6:15pm. NPU-S Land Use Committee meeting. This committee makes recommendations to the NPU about:
  
  1. all matters related to the development of residential, commercial, and other large-scale development projects;
  2. all matters related to zoning, economic development, business expansion and retention, and urban design;
  3. all matters related to traffic and transportation planning;
  4. and all matters related to enforcement of City Codes.

Atlanta Police Department 2023 LGBTQ Citizens Police Academy

The Atlanta Citizens Police Academy includes twelve-plus hours of skilled and professional instruction delivered in three-hour sessions. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Unless otherwise specified, the Citizens Police Academy will be held at: Atlanta Police Headquarters, 226 Peachtree St. SW Atlanta, Georgia 30303 404-546-2541 phone, 404-653-7992 fax

Classes topics may include:

HOW ARE PARTICIPANTS SELECTED?

The Atlanta Police Department strives to reflect a diverse group of participants. Applicants will be evaluated and notified when they are selected to participate. Potential candidates for the Citizens Police Academy should meet, but are not limited to the following criteria:

• Be a resident of the Metropolitan Atlanta area
• Minimum age of 21 years
• No felony convictions
• No misdemeanor convictions within one year of application
• After completion of the application, consent forms, and waiver forms a standard background check will be completed.

MARTA Career Fair Feb 23: Rail Station, Railcar, Facilities and Heavy Cleaners Needed

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will hold a Career Fair for cleaners on Thursday, Feb. 23, from noon until 4 p.m. at MARTA headquarters, located across from the Lindbergh Center rail station on Piedmont Road in Atlanta. See additional details below:

NPU University 1003.001: Intro to Parliamentary Procedures

CL 1003.001 INTRODUCTION TO PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURES Parliamentary procedure is the code of rules and ethics for neighborhood organizations, city councils, and other deliberative bodies to transact business fairly, efficiently, orderly, and expeditiously. Conducted by a registered parliamentarian, the first half of this course is designed for community leaders new to using parliamentary procedure, or who would benefit from a refresher on the fundamental concepts of effective and fair meeting procedure. The basic tenets of Robert's Rules of Order are taught to arm presiding officials with the tools necessary to run successful and productive gatherings. The second half of this course is designed to instruct residents on the rights, privileges, and obligations they have as members of an NPU or neighborhood organization. Community members can participate in decision-making for their organizations and learn how to use parliamentary procedures to participate in the civic process.
